Basic Information

This is the Chinese Culture Museum located in Phuket's Chinatown. Established to preserve and exhibit Chinese culture and history in Phuket, the museum was created by renovating a Chinese-style building constructed in the 1930s. Inside, a variety of artifacts related to Chinese culture, history, and art are displayed, with the aim of fostering greater understanding and interest in Chinese culture and history in Thailand.

Review Information

Old Town Phuket itself is not particularly large, so you can explore it all in half a day.

Old Town is dotted with charming shops and delicious eateries, so if you fall in love with its appeal, you'll find half a day simply isn't enough!

I visited the Tai Hua Museum, located on Krabi Road inside Old Town.

Personally, I prefer travel itineraries that include visiting museums in different regions.

Because knowing the history or culture of the place you're visiting can turn even a hesitant recollection later into a wonderful memory!

I turned on Google Maps and walked there, but since it was located down an alley, I had to ask the shop owners to find it.

The museum is a two-story building and is not particularly large in size.

The Tai Hua Museum, located in Phuket's Old Town or Bangkok's Old Town of Chalong Krung Road, features an architectural style also found in Yaowarat (Chinatown).

This architectural form is influenced by Chinese and Portuguese styles, known as Sino-Portuguese architecture.

The Old Town area of Phuket is home to many Chinese immigrants, so you can often see houses and shops with this distinctive architectural style throughout the district.

The museum is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

There is also a small parking lot where you can take and park your car. Please remove the car by 5 PM, when the gates close.

The admission fee for Thai nationals is 50 baht, and for foreigners, it is 200 baht.

I looked exactly like a Thai person, so I paid the local admission fee to watch. Hahaha

The Taihuwa Museum is said to have been a building that was formerly used as a school.

It's both fascinating and thought-provoking to see Chinatowns wherever you go around the world.

The interior is beautifully arranged in harmony without significantly altering the building itself!

Every item and accessory exudes an old-world charm.

I was able to encounter various lifestyles sent by the previous immigrants.

They have written down in great detail how they relocated to Phuket, what items they used, and what clothes they wore.

Below, you can also see him using opium!

Traces of its use as a Chinese school building can also be seen.

The textbooks, desk, chair, and photos were all neatly stored. It was quite enjoyable to look around. haha

This exhibition hall showcases various types of buildings located in Phuket's Old Town.

It was a two-story building with approximately ten small exhibition halls, though one might also call them rooms.

The museum's exhibition design and visual design are exceptionally excellent.

Applause for the designer!

The exhibition also features information on the tableware used in the Joseon Dynasty, as well as introductions to Thai dishes influenced by China, such as kuey teow yeeu and mantou-style rice balls called salapao, along with various desserts.

It's decorated nicely, just like an old-fashioned restaurant. Haha

It displays introductions to famous families of Chinese immigrants in Phuket along with their portraits.

Wouldn't it be incredibly satisfying if your previous face were drawn? Haha

It is the Taifu Museum, which is small enough to explore entirely in about an hour.

I felt that the descendants of Chinese immigrants cherish and take pride in their history.

Open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding public holidays. If you visit Phuket Old Town, this museum is well worth a visit.
